And although there is a wide variety of styles and preparations of this drink, in Mexican homes, it is more common to find soluble coffee.

The main advantage offered by soluble or instant coffee is that it is quick to prepare, it is enough to add hot water to the coffee and in a few seconds the consumer can enjoy this drink, it is because of this ease of preparation that its market is very broad and regardless of whichever brand is preferred they all have the same properties and standardized consistency.

Freeze Dried Soluble Coffee?

“In the industry, this type of coffee is known as “lyophilized” because it goes through a freeze-drying process, freeze-drying consists of deep-freezing. The result is concentrated and introduced into a chamber that dehydrates it directly without passing through the liquid state (sublimation). The coffee thus preserves its organoleptic properties intact”, explained Alejandro Escobar, CEO of Pare de Dormir Coffee House.

Freeze-dried coffees maintain certain properties of coffee such as the characteristic flavors and aromas of the grain, as well as the presence of caffeine, it is not possible to find exotic or distinctive notes in them, but artificial flavors are added, being its preparation so simple it is lost the complete experience of consuming a good coffee.

Specialty Coffee

«Most people start their experience with coffee by trying instant coffee. Later, depending on the taste they acquire for this drink, they try whole grain coffee and its different qualities, from commercial to specialty,» explained the expert.

It is estimated that, in the world, 95% of the coffee produced is commercial and only 5% is specialty. This percentage is due to the fact that coffee requires a lot of care throughout its production process, from the farm to the cup, and only some manage to meet all the characteristics considered by the Specialty Coffee Association to be called specialty coffee.

“Finally, for those people who are just entering the world of coffee, the ideal is for them to get to know and explore the different types of coffees on the market, which will help the palate to identify those that are most pleasant and those that no, as well as the different types of preparation and styles that exist. Of course, always betting on the consumption of national products and seeking the guidance of coffee experts”, concluded Alejandro Escobar.
